Citrus Ridge: A Civics Academy has been successfully building a school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) framework aimed at enhancing student quality of life and reducing problem behaviors. National research shows that full implementation of this framework leads to improved student outcomes.
By establishing PBIS, Citrus Ridge is developing student skills, making changes to the school environment, acknowledging appropriate student behavior, and using data to identify needed supports for its students.
Citrus Ridge: A Civics Academy is working to increase positive student behavioral outcomes. Schools that have received training in PBIS, demonstrated improved school-wide outcomes, as well as equitable student outcomes, and that have shown fidelity of implementation are recognized by the FLPBIS Project’s Model Schools program.
Citrus Ridge: A Civics Academy is being recognized by the FLPBIS Project as a Bronze PBIS Model School. To earn this level of achievement, schools must meet specific criteria that can be found on the FLPBIS Project website.
This model school program acknowledges a school’s commitment to positive and equitable outcomes for all students and helps them celebrate efforts as they progress toward full implementation of PBIS. Schools can build upon their model school status by exploring additional training areas offered by FLPBIS, such as restorative practices, cultural responsiveness, trauma-informed care and advanced tiers of support.
